Barnet Council is inviting parents and carers to complete a short survey about childcare for school‑aged children, including holiday provision. This information has been requested by the Department for Education and will help the Council plan and improve childcare services for local families.

When Miley Cyrus won a Grammy for Flowers, she thought she’d be the star of the show. What she wasn’t expecting was that, months later, the Livingstone Year 5 and 6 choir would outshine her at the Barnet Music Festival and make the whole night truly blossom.

Our pupils were immaculately turned out and delivered a polished performance, supported every step of the way by Mrs Cockburn, Mr Boucon and Mrs Fewster. In fact, the whole evening was excellent in showcasing the musical talents of pupils across Barnet schools, including several of our own pupils who accompanied the singing by playing instruments.

We unable to take photos due to strict rules at the venue but will share the video of the performances when we have received it from BEAT.

This week, our rugby team had the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the home of England Rugby, the Allianz Stadium (formerly Twickenham), to take part in a day of T1 Rugby.

The children enjoyed a range of rugby activities during the morning before competing in a series of matches in the afternoon. Not only did they represent the school brilliantly, but they also went the entire day unbeaten. Very few children can say they have had the chance to play rugby at the home of England Rugby and to do so without losing a game is an incredible achievement.

As part of the day, the children were also given the incredible opportunity to tour the England Rugby team's changing rooms and explore some of the stadium's world-class facilities. It was a real highlight and gave them a fascinating insight into what it is like behind the scenes at one of the country's most iconic sporting venues.

The children had a fantastic time and created memories that I am sure will stay with them for many years to come. It was hard to tell who was more excited - the children, Mr Madle or me (Mr Boucon)!

The first event of the day was the field events where the year 5 and year 6 pupils (that were chosen) compete against the other schools in long jump, shotput, vortex and speed bounce. The year 5's went first and Renee came 1st in long jump and George came 6th out of 14 others. Next was the year 5 shotput where you push through a heavy ball and Lianna came 3rd. In vortex Yvette came 1st and Zachariah came 3rd. In speed bounce, Gia Khang came 1st too. Well done to all the year 5's because they were all really nervous but the outcome said otherwise. Now onto the year 6's, in long jump Elsie came 1st jumping 3.9 meters. Then Soroiyan came 1st and Mikolaj came 3rd in shotput. Next was vortex Anwen came 1st and through 29.2meters. When it was the boys turn there was a boy who won through nearly the whole rugby pitch, but Skye did really well and got 2nd. Last was the speed bounce where Kevin came 1st and Dotty came 3rd but the people who won, they were not doing two foot to two foot which is the whole point.

Activity Clubs for Summer 2 will go online for booking on Monday 18th May at 17:30pm.

Activity clubs will begin the first day back after the school holiday, Monday 1st June 2026. The Monday and Friday clubs will run for 5 weeks; all other clubs will run for 6 weeks.

All activity clubs run from 15:15pm to 16:15pm.

There have been some changes to the timetable as part of the school's transition into the next academic year. Please make sure you check the email you have been sent for information about what clubs will be available for your child.

Football season has come to an end and what an epic finale it was! Our girls reached not one, but two finals against the same strong opponents, St. Catherines. Last Friday, our Girls Team played with determination, teamwork and confidence, showing exactly why they deserved the win. Staff at Livingstone have been continually impressed by their talent and commitment, and this was clear once again as they secured the title of Barnet League Champions for the third year in a row. Another trophy for the cabinet! But, it didn’t stop there. On Tuesday, the girls returned to the pitch for their second final, full of energy and focus, knowing they were up against a determined side. After a tense first half, a motivating team talk from Mr Thomas set them up for the second half. A brilliant corner from Elsie gave Dotty the opportunity to put us 1–0 ahead. With minutes remaining, Anwen struck a powerful shot to seal a 2–0 victory. Cup winners! Combined with our Powerleague win earlier in the Autumn term, this means our Livingstone girls are treble winners. An outstanding achievement. Go on, Girls! We are incredibly proud of the team, and all of this success will certainly go down in our school’s history. Thank you to Mr Thomas and Mr Madle for training the girls all year and to our parents/carers who have supported us continuously. Well done to, Xhizela, Eva, Holly, Anwen, Elsie, Soroiyan, Amelia, Ryann, Daniella and Dotty.

Livingstone clinched the Barnet Central League title with an exciting 2–1 victory over St Catherine’s!

Goals from Hollie and Elsie sealed a hard‑fought win and confirmed Livingstone as league champions — a fantastic achievement for the team!

Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break, filled with plenty of rest, family time, and of course lots of chocolate. This half term promises to be a busy and exciting one, with many events to look forward to, finishing with our much‑anticipated Picnic Day at the end of the half term.

This is also a very important time for our Year 6 pupils as they prepare to smash their SATs. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and determination and wish them the very best of luck.

We have some fantastic trips planned across the school, including a visit to Buckingham Palace for Year 1, a trip to the farm for Reception and an exciting outing to Hertfordshire Zoo for Kingfisher class. Sporting events are also in full swing, with two girls’ football cup finals, Copthall athletics, tag rugby festivals and a cricket competition all coming up this term.

Finally, we would like to send our very best wishes to Mrs Mills as she prepares for the exciting arrival of her baby. This is such a special time, and we know the whole school community will join us in wishing her and her family happiness, health and lots of precious moments together. Mrs Mills will be greatly missed while she is away, but we cannot wait to meet the newest member of her family and look forward to welcoming her back in the future.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic half term ahead!

It was wonderful to see so many red noses, bright outfits and Red Nose Day accessories around school today as we came together to raise money for such a fantastic cause. The enthusiasm from the children and staff made the day very bright.

We also enjoyed a lively assembly where children shared their favourite jokes. Some were very funny, and the room was filled with laughter! It was lovely to see the children’s confidence and joy as they took part.

Thank you to those of you who did make a £1 donation. We appreciate your kindness, generosity, and continued support. If you forgot to make a donation, you can still pay via the Arbor School Shop or in cash at the school office.

Thank you to the amazing group of parents who helped with the Mother’s Day Stall. They shopped, wrapped, and sold over the two days, making it possible for our pupils to choose something special for their Mum, Carer and Grandmother. We are very lucky to have a dedicated team of helpers. Happy Mother's Day !

World Book Day is always a fabulous event with the children in their comfy pyjamas and creative character costumes! This year certainly didn't disappoint! The children enjoyed buddy reading with different classes; learning performance poetry; dressing-up; swapping books in the Mystery Book Swap; and strutting their stuff down the catwalk in assembly yesterday. Thank you to Mrs Cockburn and Mrs Segal for organising a fun-filled week, and to Mrs Armstrong (our wonderful librarian) for always promoting a love of reading.

Selected children proudly represented our school at the recent cross-country competition. They have been training hard to build their stamina in preparation for the long- distance run, and their dedication was clear to see. Cross country requires great resilience and determination due to its challenging nature, and our children rose to the occasion brilliantly. We were very pleased to see a few newcomers taking part this term, and we are very proud of everyone who competed. We even had Lola bring back a bronze medal, as well as some children placing in the top 10 out of 25 competitors. Well done to Elsie, Dotty, Anwen, Marianna, Sienna, Lola, Kevin, Ryan, George, Phoebe, Rosie, Liam, Ahmet and Milo.

Every year the school council hosts a movie night to raise money for the school and charity. At movie night, all the children get hot chocolate and popcorn! This year the school are doing something extra special that we have never done before, normally any person or group that wants to are allowed to make things to sell before, after and during the movie. This year each class will come up with something to make and sell it to raise money. Nursery are making gingerbread, Reception are making dojo monsters, Yr 1 are making playdough, Yr 2 are making fairy craft, Yr 3 are making bracelets and anything that involves beads, Yr 4 are making wind chimes, Yr 5 are making scented candles and Yr 6 are making craft packs. The movie choices were chosen by the school council and were short listed to four: Ratatouille, Zootropolis 1, Lilo and Stitch and Dog Man. The rest of the school voted on the movie and the winner was... Zootropolis 1! The movie night will be held on 13th of February on the last week of term. Everyone is buzzing about it and is so excited. Thank you for everyone who put this together!

We would like to thank Mrs Speed and Mr Madle for their work in developing a programme of initiatives with the local authority focused on mental health and wellbeing. Their efforts have supported our progress from Bronze to achieving the Silver Award. We are delighted to see the positive impact this work is having on our pupils and will now work towards obtaining the Gold Award.

As with every term, we have lots of exciting activities planned. This half term, the School Council will be called upon to help organise Enterprise Week and Cinema Night, with money collected shared with charities chosen by the pupils.

Preparations will take place throughout January, with more updates to follow soon.

Every year, in the run up to Christmas, Year 3 make and perform a nativity Christmas show for the rest of the school and their parents to watch. They are always backed up by Year 1 and 2 who sing and dance throughout the performance amazingly. This year the show is called I'm Gonna Shine and was also done by my class [the current year 6s] 3 years ago. It will be so much fun to watch it again! I am sure many children and parents are looking forward to watching it next week! Thank you to the year 1, 2 and 3 teachers for creating such an amazing show. Can't wait to watch!

Christmas Fair

On Friday, all of the pupils at Livingstone school had lots of fun at the Christmas fair!! We had Mr Madle's and Mr Sudbury's famous BBQ hot dogs and even some cheesy nachos! We had an amazing tombola full of toys and sweets while Christmas music played in the background.

After all the fun, we had Mrs Phelan host her famous raffle which many people were lucky to win many prizes such as a toy hamper, a food hamper, a luxury hamper and drinks hamper with many more options !! :)

Thank you to all the parents and teachers who helped out at the fair and gave everyone a wonderful experience! We raised over £4000, so thank you for your support.

This week’s School Comedy Night was a tremendous success, filling the hall with laughter from start to finish. Our headliners, Katie Green and Iain Stirling, were outstanding— an incredible standard of comedy for a small school in Barnet, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Thanks to the fantastic turnout, the event raised an impressive £1,200 for the PTA. Every penny will go directly towards enriching the experience of our pupils.

A massive thank you goes to Joe Bor (parent of Milo and Levi) for organising and supporting the event so brilliantly. Thank you also to all the parents who came along, supported the school, and even went home with raffle prizes and auction items they never knew they needed!

We are also hugely grateful to our wonderful staff who helped on the night and still turned up bright and early the next morning to teach. Special thanks to Mrs Phelan, Mrs Stephens, Mrs Armstrong, Mr Sudbury and Mrs Cavozzi for helping make the evening run so smoothly.

A brilliant night of community, comedy, and support for our school - thank you to everyone involved.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our recent Meet the Teacher event—thank you to everyone who attended. We look forward to welcoming more of you next week, and will be arranging more meetings and workshops for you to find out more about your child/ren’s learning throughout the year.

This morning, we held our first Parent Champion Coffee Morning of the year—a great chance for parents to connect and make new friends. We were also delighted to have Kristina (Lucas' mum) showcase her baby massage classes. If you are interested in Baby Massage or Baby Yoga classes, please contact the office and we will pass on the details.

Please keep an eye out for future events, and remember— we’re always looking for volunteers to support our PTA activities. Your help makes a real difference!

Parents and carers are reminded that pupils must wear helmets when using scooters or bikes. For safety reasons, these should be wheeled—not ridden—on school paths and playgrounds to avoid accidents, especially with younger children.

A gentle reminder to all parents and carers:

• Leggings are not part of our school uniform and should not be worn under dresses or skirts. Pupils wearing skirts or dresses should wear socks.
• Reception class pupils should wear black jogging bottoms.
• For PE lessons, pupils in all other classes should also wear black jogging bottoms
